DANIEL'S DAY AS OUR MATCHDAY MASCOT

28 January 2016

AFTER spending Christmas in Queen’s Hospital, young Brewers fan Daniel Brackstone was able to enjoy a dream day at the Pirelli Stadium as a mascot on Saturday.

Seven-year-old Daniel met Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough and the Brewers players when they made a festive visit to the hospital.

In traction, after suffering a bad break to his leg, Daniel was on the ward on Christmas Day but his mum Clair and dad Adrian planned a second Christmas for him when he got back home in January.

Daniel made such an impression on the Brewers on the hospital visit that he was invited to be a matchday mascot as soon as he was well enough – with the package donated by the Free Kicks Foundation, which provides football experiences for deserving children.

Daniel is still on crutches but that didn’t stop him leading the players out at the Shrewsbury game and from meeting Billy Brewer, Nigel Clough and the first team led by skipper John Mousinho.

He also proved a big hit with the fans – earning a standing ovation from the main stand spectators.

Mascot packages are available for the home fixture against Chesterfield on February 12 and other fixtures this season.

The package includes a chance to lead the team out, to meet the Brewers first team players and to play on the Pirelli Stadium pitch prior to kick off.

The offer is open exclusively to youngsters who are already Junior Brewers or who sign up to be a Junior Brewer before becoming a mascot.

It only costs £15 a year to join and that opens up the chance to be match day mascot.

The 2015/16 season package is designed to make the experience a great day out for the family.

It includes:
Hospitality for two adults plus one mascot ticket with a three-course meal;
A money-can’t-buy dressing room meet and greet experience with Albion’s star players;
A chance to play on the pitch before the game;
A pre-match photo with the captains and officials;
A mention in the matchday programme, with a copy to take home.

The package costs £200.
