BURTON Albion goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin has been nominated for Sky Bet League One player of the month (December).
Tom Aldred (Blackpool) – central defenderHis no-nonsense, heart-on-sleeve style of defending earns him hero status at Bloomfield Road. Did everything in the 1-0 win at Wigan Athletic, which included heading the only goal and was superb again to keep out free-scoring Peterborough United.
Adam Chambers (Walsall) – midfielder
An immense presence as Walsall adjusted to life without former manager Dean Smith. He was the glue that held his side together, protecting a back four that conceded just one goal all month and driving forward to start attacks.
Jon McLaughlin (Burton Albion) – goalkeeper
Three clean sheets in five games only tell half the story of his epic month. Commanding in his area, he saved a penalty against Doncaster Rovers and then ensured a 1-0 win over Swindon Town with two acrobatic wonder saves which defied belief.
Andy Williams (Doncaster Rovers) – striker
A second successive nomination for the 29-year-old. As well as his all-round play in the penalty area, his wonderfully inventive drag back and Bergkampesque finish against Oldham Athletic was the pick of his four goals in as many games.
