NIGEL CLOUGH SAYS STUART BEAVON DESERVED HIS GOAL AT COVENTRY

19 January 2016

STUART Beavon scored his first goal on Saturday since his goal in September against Chesterfield.

Despite his small goals tally, the Albion forward is a valuable member of the team with his work rate and hold-up play.

Nigel Clough said: “We’re not ones to say he has to score goals because makes them, wins penalties, wins free kicks that lead to goals but as a striker he wants to get the odd goal now and again.”

His goal at Coventry City on Saturday was certainly one to remember. The striker brought down a high ball played by Anthony O’Connor to advance towards goal and rifle into the roof of the net to seal all three points.

Just minutes before he scored, the striker had a chance that was a carbon copy of his goal but he rattled the bar on that occasion.

“It was a great finish and he was so unlucky just before when he hit the bar, he probably hit it too well.

“He smashed the other well, sometimes you have to put your head down and smash it.”
