PHIL EDWARDS PRAISES BRILLIANT DEFENSIVE RECORD

27 January 2016

BREWERS defender Phil Edwards has praised Albion's defending this season after yet another clean sheet at the ABAX Stadium against Peterborough United.

Just 21 goals conceded in 27 games for the Brewers this season, Phil Edwards said: "That's what we have based most of our games on.

"If you don't concede goals you don't lose games and that's one of our main attributes."

Anthony O'Connor was selected on the bench last night as Shane Cansdell-Sherriff replaced him at the back.

Edwards said: "I have been there plenty of times in my career where you're playing well and you get dropped for whatever reason.

"Anto (O'Connor) is still a young lad so he has get plenty of time to further his career, I'm sure of that."

Robbie Weir also made his return to the starting XI last night after serving a two match suspension.

"Robbie is like a midfield general, a little barking dog if anyone gets out of place he gets his voice out."

The final change to the XI last night was Lucas Akins in for Nasser El Khayati on the left.

"Lucas has done really well, coming in for Nasser, he worked extremely hard and that's what he gives," said Edwards.

"He gives a bit more defensive cover than Nasser so it was a pleasing all round performance from everybody."
