STUART BEAVON REACTS TO MANAGER COMMENTS

14 January 2016

BURTON Albion manager Nigel Clough has described striker Stuart Beavon as the best striker at the club in his most recent news conference.

Beavon has netted five times this season, his most recent was away at Chesterfield in a 2-1 victory. The forward has been mostly recognised for his hold up play this season as he has racked up four assists.

Reacting to his manager's recent comments, Stuart Beavon said: "It is nice to hear that," he added: "I just want to keep playing every week and hopefully build on that to grab few more goals.

"Don't get me wrong I want to score goals but if I'm playing my part and we're winning games I'm happy.

Beavon chipped in to win the game against Blackpool last time out at the Pirelli Stadium as he held up the inward pass from Mark Duffy inside the box to allow the winger to advance before curling the ball into the top corner from Beavon's hold-up play.

"I'd rather have more goals than assists but it's just the way I am.

"If someone is in a better position than me, I'll pass it."
