BURTON Albion have broken the club transfer record for the second time in a week.

The Brewers have tonight signed 23-year-old Australian midfielder Jackson Irvine after having a second improved bid accepted by Ross County.

The midfielder has joined Burton on a three-year deal and he could feature in tomorrow's squad against Stoke.

He has represented his national side on four occasions including a substitute appearance against England at the Stadium of Light on Friday, May 27, in a 2-1 defeat.

Nigel Clough said: โ€œHeโ€™s an Australian international who has got good experience in Scotland with Celtic and most recently Ross County.

โ€œHeโ€™s still relatively young but heโ€™s one that we think can still improve with us and he wants a chance to play in England.โ€

Irvine said: "I couldn't be happier that the deal has gone through and it's great timing and I'm now ready to focus on the football.

"When I first heard of the interest it was very flattering and it was a deal I wanted to make happen if possible. It has taken a bit of time but now it's gone through I'm so excited to be a part of it here, playing in the Championship and testing myself against that calibre of team."
