BURTON Albion have broken the club transfer record for the second time in a week.
The Brewers have tonight signed 23-year-old Australian midfielder Jackson Irvine after having a second improved bid accepted by Ross County.
The midfielder has joined Burton on a three-year deal and he could feature in tomorrow's squad against Stoke.
He has represented his national side on four occasions including a substitute appearance against England at the Stadium of Light on Friday, May 27, in a 2-1 defeat.
Nigel Clough said: “He’s an Australian international who has got good experience in Scotland with Celtic and most recently Ross County.
“He’s still relatively young but he’s one that we think can still improve with us and he wants a chance to play in England.”
Irvine said: "I couldn't be happier that the deal has gone through and it's great timing and I'm now ready to focus on the football.
"When I first heard of the interest it was very flattering and it was a deal I wanted to make happen if possible. It has taken a bit of time but now it's gone through I'm so excited to be a part of it here, playing in the Championship and testing myself against that calibre of team."
