CLOUGH PLEASED WITH NEW SIGNINGS AND YOUNGSTERS

14 July 2016

NEW signings Ben Turner and Kyle McFadzean both featured at Harrison Park as Burton Albion beat Leek Town 2-0.

Ben Turner partnered with John Mousinho at the back whilst Kyle McFadzean played just in front of the back four.

The Brewers boss said he wanted to try McFadzean in a different role, despite playing there in the past. He also mentioned he is looking to try new systems during pre-season, starting on Saturday against Stoke.

Nigel Clough said: “He’s (McFadzean) played there before so it was something we wanted to look at, the three of them in a little triangle.

“We will have another look at things on Saturday, maybe something different to that.”

There were a number of trialists on show for Nigel Clough’s men last night, in which he said it’s hard to judge during the first game of pre-season.

“It’s always difficult to judge them on their first game, we have seen them in training for a week or so,” said Clough.

He added: “They will stay with us until the weekend then we will make a decision.

“They have been with us for a week or so and that’s why you have these pre-season games, to look at them.”

First-year pros Marcus Dinanga, Charlie Gatter and Ben Fox were all handed 45 minutes last night, and they all put in impressive displays.

Clough said: “It’s good to see the first-year pros getting a run out, I think Foxy (Ben Fox) did well when he played in the second half.

“I think he has got enough about him to play across the midfield.

“What you look at in this environment is that he doesn’t look out of place.”
