DEFENDER LOOKING FORWARD TO FIRST TASTE OF ENGLISH FOOTBALL

26 July 2016

IRISH teenager Ryan Delaney is looking forward to his first season in English football after signing for the Brewers.

The 19-year-old has impressed Nigel Clough whilst on trial with his performances in pre-season games and has earned a two-year deal with the club having an option on a third.

Speaking to Brewers Player HD, Delaney said: "I'm thrilled to have signed for a club that has just had two promotions in a row and will now be playing Championship football as well.

"It has all happened very quickly. The Gaffer said he was happy with the way I had trained and played and that he wanted to sort a deal out.

"It has shown the club's confidence in me, so I'm very happy with that and the opportunity to play Championship football is great for me."

Delaney says that there will now be plenty of family and friends who will be following the Brewers fortunes this season back in Ireland.

"People were very happy to see me come over here and play for Burton Albion and a fair few more will be taking interest in the club now back in Wexford."

Delaney can play centre half and left back.

He says: "I like to be on the ball and I'm confident in my ability on the ball and my passing."

He has now moved from Ireland to Burton.

He says: "All the players and staff have been good to me and I have already settled in and I'm feeling at home."
