PIRELLI STADIUM GROUND UPDATE

8 July 2016

AFTER careful consideration Burton Albion has decided not to take any immediate action on increasing the ground capacity at the Pirelli Stadium.

The club is anticipating large followings from Championship clubs this season which is why it has explored avenues for increasing the away capacity.

Options such as temporary seating have been considered but no practical short term solution has been found.

Burton Albion Chairman Ben Robinson said: “We recognised some clubs will bring large numbers of travelling fans to the Pirelli and obviously we have got to accommodate as many of them as possible which is why we investigated options for increasing capacity for visiting supporters.

“But the plans submitted were not economically viable and had implications on ground capacity while any construction was taking place. We feel it’s important that we make sure all the ground stays open. An alternative plan has been brought forward for a smaller addition to the seating capacity that we are now looking at but this would be more of a medium term proposal and would not be an option for the beginning of the season.”
