BURTON Albion Football Club has donated another £1,000 to Eton Park Bowls Club, continuing its long-standing support of its former neighbours.
The bowls club was formerly based at a green on the old Eton Park football ground site, which made way for a housing development when Albion moved to the Pirelli Stadium in 2005.The bowls club now operates from the Washlands and, since the move, has received a donation every year from the football club.
Burton Albion chairman Ben Robinson said: “We have always been a community-minded football club and we have not forgotten our roots.
“We are delighted to continue to support our former neighbours at the bowls club and I hope the £1,000 donation will help the club continue to flourish.”
Doug Barks, the treasurer of Eton Park Bowls Club, said: “When Burton Albion moved to the Pirelli Stadium, we felt it was best for the bowls club to move to the Washlands, where we have been for the last 10 years.
"We are delighted that Burton Albion Football Club has maintained its links with us and we would like to thank Ben Robinson and the football club for the donation of ÂŁ1,000 which is very important to our club."
