BURTON Albion will play both Nottingham Forest and Derby County in the opening month of the 2016/2017 Championship season.

The Brewers will travel to the City Ground to make their debut in the Championship on August 6 to face a club that manager Nigel Clough made more than 300 appearances for.

Clough also went on to manage Derby County in the Championship and the Brewers face the Rams in one of the most keenly anticipated fixtures of the season on Saturday, August 27.

The Brewers first home Championship fixture will be on Saturday, August 13, when Bristol City are the visitors.

Gary Rowett's Birmingham City visit the Pirelli on October 22 while Newcastle United come to Burton on Saturday, December 17.

It's a Boxing Day trip to Villa Park for the Brewers as they take on Aston Villa, who were relegated from the Premiership.

Wolves visit the Pirelli on February 4, Forest on March 11.

The Brewers travel to the iPro to play the return fixture against the Rams on January 28.

All fixtures subject to change.
