BURTON Albion defender Darius Charles has gone out on loan to League Two AFC Wimbledon until the end of the season.
Charles broke his leg playing for Stevenage last season and has only recently been able to return to full fitness. He’s now hoping to get some important game time to complete his comeback from injury.
Nigel Clough believes a loan move is the right thing for the defender.
He said: “Darius feels he needs to get out and play some games now. He’s not played first team football for a year which makes it difficult for us to throw him in. He needs a few games under his belt first.”
AFC Wimbledon are currently in ninth place in league Two and challenging for a play-off place.
Meanwhile young defender Liam Slade's contract has been terminated by mutual agreement.
