THERE were over 800 Burton Albion fans at Vale Park on Saturday.

The away support has been incredible this season with over 1,000 fans at Coventry and Chesterfield before 800 or so made the trip to Crewe a few weeks back.

Winger Lucas Akins has prised the travelling Brewers this season and said he is pleased the team could reward the fans.

“Again the fans have turned out in their numbers and we can’t thank them enough,” said Akins.

“They sang throughout and they have got their rewards.

“Hopefully now they can come and cheer on the boys home and away and we will reward them with decent performances.

“Take away the result and the performance was superb.

“We were comfortable on the ball and organised in defence and we controlled majority of the game.

“We need to keep doing that because we have let ourselves down away from home especially with our starts.

“Last week we got to the fundamentals about what we are never mind what we can do with the ball.

“As long as we can focus on working hard and being right as a team we will get what we deserve.”
