MANAGING the squad and keeping the players fresh will be vital in the promotion run in, says Andy Garner.
The Brewers first team coach says: “It’s a difficult March for us – playing Saturday, Tuesday – it’s hard. We have to manage the team the best we can. Even getting Stuart Beavon off for 20 minutes against Sheffield was a massive help. That was always our thought before the game, as that will help him. We need to use the subs, get them on and help out.
“We could have brought a player in (on loan) and left Stuart Beavon out for a rest. But I don’t think he wants to be left out at Sheffield United in front of 18,000 when he’s worked his socks off week in and week out.
"It’s about managing them all in the week and if people like Bev need a couple of days rest rather than training that’s fine. As long as they are right on the Saturday. We will give them the days off, manage the squad and they know we aren’t going to bring anyone in for the sake of it.
“Somebody might be left out because we need fresh legs. We are all in it together and there is no horribleness if you are left out.
“What we do know is that these players have worked extremely hard to get where they are.”
