MERSON JOINS STELLING ON BURTON ALBION LEG OF CHARITY WALK

1 March 2016

MORE than 50 football fans have signed up to support Jeff Stelling on the Burton Albion leg of his epic charity walk – and time is running out to join them.

Jeff is teaming up with leading men’s health organisation Prostate Cancer UK and the long-standing Soccer Saturday host will complete 10-walking marathons in 10 days, from boyhood club Hartlepool United to Wembley between March 21-30.

On Friday, March 25, Jeff will walk from Derby County to Burton Albion arriving at the Pirelli Stadium just after 12.30pm.

He has invited football fans to join him and so far 56 have taken up the challenge and have started their own fund-raising.

They will be joined on the day by former Arsenal and England player Paul Merson and ex-Derby County striker Roger Davies.

Clocking in at more than 250 miles, Jeff’s Men United March - menunitedmarch.org- will see the 60-year-old check in at 31 football clubs.

Burton Albion media officer Nigel Powlson and Burton Mail Brewers reporter Ash Wilkinson will be raising cash for Prostate Cancer UK by joining Jeff on this leg of the walk and are urging Albion fans to join them or donate.

If you want to donate go to www.justgiving.com/NIGEL-POWLSON

Or if you want to walk yourself, as an incentive to sign up, Burton Albion is offering the ten charity walkers who raise the most cash on this leg of the walk matchday hospitality for the Oldham game - now scheduled for Saturday, March 26

For those considering joining Jeff on Good Friday, registration/breakfast will be at 7am. The walk starts from the iPro Stadium (Derby County) at 8am sharp.

You’ll need to be able to keep up a good walking pace (3mph) for the morning, and we’ll ask you to pledge a minimum of £100 in fundraising to help the fight against prostate cancer.

You’ll benefit from a walkers' breakfast at the start, refreshments and lunch along the route, medical support and joining Jeff in the official photo of the day.

The Pirelli Stadium will be open at the end of the walk for those participating and there will be free tea and coffee waiting. Parking at the Pirelli Stadium is available for walkers only from 6.30am.

To confirm your registration, go to this link - www.jeffsmarch.eventbrite.co.uk  - registration fee is £20 each to cover basic costs of the day.  Please register as soon as you can while places are still available.

The hospitality prizes will be offered to the 10 registered walkers who 10 days before the event have raised the most cash on their Just Giving page. Winners will be notified of the offer by email.

Note – if two or more people share a Just Giving page we will pro-rata the amount accordingly – eg: three people sharing a page raising £900 would be treated as £300 each
