BREWERS WILL BE UNDERDOGS IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP SAYS CLOUGH

12 May 2016

NIGEL Clough says his Burton Albion side will be the underdogs in every Championship game next season.

The Brewers boss said: "It's daunting and frightening but exciting as well.

"We will go to all these massive clubs and will always be the underdog."

Clough says that he will be looking for players who are ready for that challenge.

He said: "We need to attract characters who are going to embrace the sort of season it's going to be because we are going to be the underdogs in every single game.

"We will be favourites for relegation already, so we will have to find players who want to prove everybody wrong.

"You would expect next season in the Championship that our home games will be sold out at most matches. To come from crowds of 500-600 when we were at Eton Park 17 years ago so  to see them grow ten fold is remarkable in itself.

"It's not the biggest town, Burton, with less than 70,000 population, so you are looking at ten per cent of the population in the area maybe coming to watch the team.

"At Derby, a lot of fans travel from around the country to watch the club because of the history. Here it's a much more of a local fanbase."
