BURTONIANS TURN OUT IN FORCE TO CELEBRATE BREWERS PROMOTION

14 May 2016

THE Burton streets were lined with Brewers supporters cheering their heroes as the club celebrated promotion with an open-top bus tour.

Burton Albion were promoted to The Championship for the first time in the club's history after securing second spot in League One last weekend at Doncaster.

To mark the achievement, Albion's first-team squad toured the town aboard two open-top buses and the people of Burton turned out in force to applaud their Brewers heroes.

The bus parade started and finished at the Pirelli Stadium, where hundreds of fans cheered the team as they popped bottles of champagne and showed off the League One runners-up trophy.

The tour then took in the main streets of Burton, with shoppers and supporters turning out in large numbers to join in the celebrations.

Chairman Ben Robinson said: "It was a special day for Burton and I'm delighted that so many people, whether football supporters or not, have turned out to applaud the tremendous achievements of Nigel Clough and his players."

Nigel Clough added: "It was lovely to see so many people come out and see us and it gave us a chance to thank them as well for their brilliant support this season."
