NO NEW INJURY DOUBTS FOR BREWERS AHEAD OF DONCASTER GAME

7 May 2016

NIGEL Clough will chose from the same 18 players on duty against Gillingham for the crucial last game of the season at Doncaster tomorrow (kick off 12.30pm).

The Brewers have picked up no new injury worries during training this week.

Clough said: “It’s the same 18 as Gillingham – Tom Flanagan and Mason Bennett are still out , so we are as we were.”

Training has been relatively light this week for the squad.

Clough said: “They don’t need fitness work at this time of the season. It’s just a case of ticking over and not picking up any more injuries.”

The Albion boss believes his players are ready for the game that could see the club promoted to The Championship.

He said: “Motivation will take care of itself – everyone knows what is at stake. Every player, young or old will be desperate to get that result on Sunday.

“By nature, footballers will be nervous before games – they are for virtually every game. It’s about keeping those in check. We will keep everything nice and relaxed and ask them to do what they have been doing for the previous 45 games.

“They all have to chip in and help each other – that can mean the young lads helping the older ones sometimes as they worry less. When you get older you start thinking about things more and it can be an advantage for younger players that they see it as a game of football and just treat it like that.”

Clough is now eager for the big kick-off.

He said: “Let’s get it played, get a positive result and then we can all enjoy it.”
