PLAYERS 'CAN'T WAIT' FOR DONCASTER GAME

5 May 2016

NIGEL Clough says his Burton Albion players can't wait to get out onto the pitch at Doncaster.

The Brewers boss said: "The lads can't wait for it - which is a good thing. Everyone now feels it's so close they want the game to come as soon as possible."

The 2-1 win over Gillingham set the Brewers up for the last game at Doncaster - leaving Albion needing a point to gain promotion.

Clough said: "After Gillingham it never felt like we were there - that we had done it. It just felt like an important step towards it and was an important show of character from the players.

"We played well in the game as well but it was turning out like the previous home games where we had played well and drawn them and could have won any of them if we had got a little break.

"You can look back over the whole season and say 'we could have done this or that but it's all irrelevant now'. There are 45 games gone and the situation now is very clear - all the ifs and buts are gone. If we get at least a point on Sunday nothing else matters."

"To be three points and three goals ahead - at any point this season we would have taken that."
