CHAIRMAN Ben Robinson says promotion to The Championship is still sinking in.The club will be celebrating promotion with an open top bus tour through the town centre today – starting at the Pirelli Stadium at 11am and returning to the ground after travelling through the main shopping streets.
It will be a chance for the town to celebrate the football club’s achievements.
Ben said: “It’s truly amazing; it’s still sinking in and won’t become a reality until we play the first game next season.”
Plans are already being put in place to cope with next season.
Ben said: “We have looked at what we have to do before the first game kicks off, which is primarily the press box and the upgrade of the floodlights – which for a practical point of view needs be done this summer.
“As far as capacity is concerned, we know we will have problems accommodating visiting fans so we will have to look at how we can accommodate more visiting supporters in the away end.
“We are looking at all options, including temporary solutions.
“As far as home fans are concerned, I’m sure with all these big clubs coming here we will be sold out for those games.”
In the meantime, Albion’s celebrations continue with the open top bus parade today.
Ben said: “It’s a chance for the whole town to celebrate and we hope as many fans as possible turn out to cheer Nigel Clough and his team.”
