NIGEL Clough is gearing up for Burton Albion’s first ever season in the Sky Bet Championship and encourages his team to “enjoy it” whilst giving it everything they’ve got.
He said: “From the outside it is exciting and it’s going to be one of those seasons where nobody would ever dream that Burton Albion would be going to places like that.
“We’re going to enjoy it more than anything else, we’re going to give it everything we’ve got but we’re going to enjoy it.”
The Albion manager already has plans in place to build a squad fit enough to stay in the Championship next season.
“I don’t think we will be having majority of possession in most games next season so the team first and foremost has to be solid and has to work very hard so that has to be the first prerequisite then we will look at the creativity side after that,” said Clough.
With Robbie Weir and Shane Cansdell-Sherriff recently departing the Pirelli Stadium, Clough says he will be looking to add experience to the squad in order to be competitive.
He said: “Experience will be one way of us being competitive next year.
“A few of the players we have looked at are early 30s.
“It will be a case of offering players a year and an extra year if we stay up.
“Quite a lot of the ones we have looked at are experienced players.”
