KEEGAN PRAISES BREWERS METEORIC RISE

25 November 2016

FOOTBALL legend Kevin Keegan paid tribute to the meteoric rise of Burton Albion when he visited the Pirelli Stadium last night.

The former Liverpool favourite was the chief guest at the club's annual sporting dinner - which attracted a packed house to the Pirelli Stadium

The ex-England player and manager said: "My talk is a little tribute to Burton Albion because if Leicester hadn't won the Premier League last year then what Burton did would have got a lot more coverage. Because it is every bit as good.

"When I was playing they weren't even in the league, or even in the divisions that get you in the league - so the rise has been meteoric.

"The club is like a bantamweight in a heavyweight division. It's great credit to all the people who have put such hard work in. It's a terrific story.

"What it does is to give hope to all the clubs - not just the ones in the league. Because there is a way there now and Burton have shown it. It's an inspiration."
