NIGEL CLOUGH CONFIRMS JAMIE WARD'S INJURY

5 November 2016

BURTON Albion boss Nigel Clough confirmed Jamie Ward has broken his wrist after being taken off in the early stages against Barnsley.

The on-loan striker went down off the ball after about 11 minutes before being replaced by Tom Flanagan.

Clough said: "He's fractured his wrist."

"We don't quite know how badly but he's definitely broken it or fractured it or done something so he will be out for a few weeks."

Jamie Ward was recently called up to the Northern Ireland squad for their World Cup Qualifier, but Clough confirms he won't be going with the national team and will instead have an operation.

"He obviously won;'t be going away with Northern Ireland, he will get an operation to have it set then the good thing is he can play with a cast."
