CLOUGH WAITS ON BRAYFORD AND MOUSINHO

12 October 2016

NIGEL Clough will be waiting on injury worries for skipper John Mousinho and John Brayford as he prepares for three games in six days.

The Brewers travel to Wigan on Saturday and Ipswich on Tuesday before a televised home game on Friday evening against Birmingham.

Clough said: “John Mousinho hasn’t trained yet as he’s still feeling his hamstring. We are now glad we left him out of the Cardiff game as if he had have played three in a week after being out five weeks he would not be available for Saturday. John Brayford hasn’t trained either but at least with his groin injury it has given his knee chance to rest as well. We will see how they both are on Friday.

"We are also waiting on the international lads (Jamie Ward, Tom Flanagan and Jackson Irvine) to see what sort of state they are in.”

Irvine has been on international duty with Australia piling up the air miles, Ward and Flanagan have been with Northern Ireland.

Clough said: “Jackson has had experience of the travelling the last few seasons. We will see how he feels but he’s genuine enough to admit if he’s shattered or tell us he doesn’t feel too bad. What’s good from our point of view is that he’s only played a few minutes so it’s more about dealing with the travellling not game time as well.

“Tom Flanagan has been around the Northern Ireland squad and that’s brilliant experience. The fact that he has been called up by Northern Ireland is recognition for him that’s he’s not a bad player.”
