IPSWICH TOWN PREVIEW

18 October 2016

BURTON Albion travel 166 miles south-east this evening to take on 17th placed Ipswich Town in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Brewers will go into the game off the back of a 0-0 draw away at Wigan, a game in which Nigel Clough thought his team should have won in the first half. Their opposition, Ipswich, have failed to score in their last five games and, just like Burton, will be going into the game off the back of a 0-0 draw.

Mick McCarthy’s men played out a 0-0 draw with Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Saturday to make it three points from their last five games.

The Brewers are unbeaten in their last three matches and will be looking to build on their recent solid form whilst Ipswich will be looking to bounce back from two defeats in their last five games.

Oliver Langford will be the man in the middle for tonight’s match as he takes charge for his first game since officiating in the Football League Trophy between Portsmouth and Reading u23s. He hasn’t yet issued a red card this season, but he has issued 40 yellow cards in his 11 games so far.

Nigel Clough will be looking to have a go at Ipswich, as Burton Albion have done in every game so far this season: “Home and away we have tried to take the gamer to the opposition and we will try it but it depends on how they set up as well and how they do, if they put you under pressure and the ball is coming into your box an awful lot, you have to defend it,” said Clough.

The two sides have never met previously in a competitive fixture.
