LEEDS UNITED PREVIEW

28 October 2016

BURTON Albion are back on the road in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday as they take on Leeds United at Elland Road.

The two sides have never met in a competitive fixture, although they did face each other in a pre-season friendly when Neil Warnock was in charge of Leeds.

Nigel Clough’s men will be full of confidence after beating Birmingham City 2-0 on Friday night at the Pirelli Stadium, whilst Gary Monk’s side most recently beat Norwich on penalties in the EFL Cup. Burton’s last five league matches have totalled eight points (W2, D2, L1) whilst Leeds United have picked up seven points from their last five league games (W2, D1, L2).

Jeremy Simpson will be the man with the cards at Elland Road. He has dished out 63 yellow cards in 13 games so far this season (4.8 average). He has also given one red card during his 13 games in charge. He most recently took charge of Preston vs Huddersfield in the Sky Bet Championship on 19 October.

Ahead of the clash, Jackson Irvine said: “We expect Saturday to be hostile but as a player you want it to be lively and exciting. As you saw in the game against Birmingham, once we got through the first fifteen minutes of the game and Lloyd went on a run or two it lifted the atmosphere.”

Brewers boss Nigel Clough said: “Elland Road is an intimidating place to go – we always felt it with Derby as well with the rivalry going on with Leeds."

Clough is likely to field a settled side at Elland Road.

He said: “There won’t be too many changes after some good performances last Friday night.”
