BRAYFORD PRAISES BARKER'S DETERMINATION

14 September 2016

JOHN Brayford has praised teammate Shaun Barker’s determination and character after his return from long-term injury.

Brayford who played alongside Barker at Derby said: “To still be going after four and a half years out is an absolute credit to him.

“When he comes out on that pitch I couldn’t be happier for him.

“He’s an absolutely smashing fella and he’s got a great family and he’s still doing his work every single morning. To have that determination to come back from what happened is brilliant.”

Barker made his second appearance of the season against Fulham on Tuesday night, after making his Albion debut against his former club, Derby County.

“If someone has worked for four and a half years to spend two minutes against one of his former clubs, I’m going to do my best to help him out,” said Brayford.

I want those kind of people next to me in the changing room and out on the pitch”

Brayford, who is playing under manager Nigel Clough for the fourth time, also spoke highly of the spirit in the current team.

“Its an enjoyable working environment. It’s nice to have people who are on the same page as you instead of people trying to do their own thing. If that happened the gaffer would soon stop it.

“When you’ve got that you want to do your best for the manager.”
