CLOUGH TARGETS THREE POINTS AHEAD OF INTERNATIONAL BREAK

29 September 2016

NIGEL Clough is hoping to go into the international break with three more points secured.

The Albion boss said: “If we can get the three points on Saturday then that will be a good return from the first 11 games and will put us on target for where we want to be. We have to get just over a point a game and get to that 50 points we need to stay in the Championship. It’s a big one for us on Saturday now and we want to try and get that win against Cardiff.

“It’s an incentive to say to the lads that’s there a couple of weeks without a game and they will get a bit of time off at the start. We want to go into the break on a high and everyone will enjoy it so much better then.

“We want to win more games but we feel that will come from getting the confidence through draws.

“It’s pretty much where we expect to be all season for us. There are a couple of teams below us that will not expect to stay there but we envisaged being in the bottom half of the league and fighting, battling and scrapping for everything we can get.

“We have played some good football home and away and it’s now about getting the balance right between doing that and picking up points.”
