FULHAM: ON THE WHISTLE MATCH REPORT

13 September 2016

Nigel Clough's patched-up team had to weather an early storm from the home side as Aluko cut in from the right, onto his left foot before shooting at McLaughlin who made a smart save at his near post before allowing McCrory to clear.

The Brewers got themselves back into the game after the early onslaught but the home side had to remind them of their attacking qualities. Young forward Ryan Sessegnon received the ball on the left before driving down the line and providing a teasing cross for the onrushing Chris Martin but he couldn't make any contact with the ball to guide it home.

John Brayford was named captain for the night with Kyle McFadzean serving the first match of his three-game ban and he saved the Brewers from going a goal behind some 20 minutes into the game. Again it was the dangerous Ryan Sessegnon who provided the cross from the left but the Albion number three did well to get a foot on it and turn the ball behind for a corner.

It was the youngster's time to go for goal as he latched onto a ball over the top and in behind the Albion defence and with just McLaughlin to beat it was the Burton stopper that denied him a goal.

On-loan striker Chris Martin, who is with Fulham form Derby County, was getting in on the act as he met a deep corner at the back post but his diversion back across goal was left untouched and the Albion survived another attack.

Half time: Fulham 0-0 Burton Albion

Damien McCrory was replaced by Ben Turner at half time.

GOAL: Burton Albion took the lead six minutes into the second half through Jackson Irvine! Matty Palmer won the ball well into the corner before crossing it to Beavon who held it up well and layed it off to Irvine who very coolly slotted into the far corner from the edge of the box (0-1).

Nottingham Forest-loanee Jamie Ward replaced Stuart Beavon on the hour mark for the Brewers.

Ben Turner picked up a yellow card, his fifth of the season, for attempting to bring down Aluko as he was making way down the right.

As the final whistle edged ever-closer Jamie Ward nearly added a second for the Brewers, he latched onto a long ball and flashed a powerful effort just wide of the goal!

GOAL: The home side equalised three minutes into added time through Ryan Sessegnon. Aluko took the shot from inside the box which McLaughlin couldn't hold on to and the youngster was there to tap home (1-1).

Full time: Fulham 1-1 Burton Albion

Attendance: 15,228 (244 away)
