WARD READY TO HELP BREWERS CONTINUE GOOD START TO CHAMPIONSHIP

7 September 2016

JAMIE Ward has returned from international duty with Northern Ireland and has linked up with his Brewers team mates following his deadline day move to the Pirelli Stadium.

It reunites the player with his former manager Nigel Clough and Ward was delighted to join the Brewers on loan from Nottingham Forest.

He says: “It was a last minute thing. I obviously wasn’t playing much at Forest and I had a phone call to see if I would fancy it.

“The most important thing for me is to play games and try and get as many career games as possible in my locker.

“I also thought playing for Nigel again would be great. He knows what I’m like. I know what he’s like. We have had a good relationship in the past and hopefully it can carry on.”

Ward has been keeping a close eye on the Brewers progress and is now delighted to be playing a part in that development.

He said: “It has been amazing the last few years – back-to-back promotions and starting well in the Championship.

“It’s important to keep that momentum. The lads have seen what the Championship is about and have turned over some of the better more fancied teams in the league so there is a lot of character in this team and it’s important we keep driving forward.

“I have played a lot of games in this league so I know what it’s about. An achievement for this club would be to stay in this league. That’s our aim and I will keep driving the lads and myself to achieve that.”
