IPSWICH TOWN PREVIEW AND TEAM NEWS

13 April 2017

BURTON Albion will take on Ipswich Town for the final time this season when the Tractor Boys visit the Pirelli Stadium tomorrow night.

Nigel Clough’s were beaten at Portman Road back in October but the performance definitely merited more than a defeat. Goals in each half from skipper Luke Chambers and Freddie Sears condemned Albion to a 2-0 defeat against an Ipswich Town side who had been struggling to find the net in the run up to the game.

The Brewers could have a full-fit squad, although Lasse Vigen Christensen will be assessed after missing the last game against Aston Villa on Saturday. Luke Varney will be itching to start against his former club.

From the opposition camp, midfielder Cole Skuse is back in contention after sitting out the last two matches with concussion.

On-loan Leicester forward Tom Lawrence is expected to be back in the starting line-up having made a return from a groin injury as a substitute in last weekend's 3-1 defeat at Fulham.

Left-back Jonas Knudsen, centre-half Steven Taylor and midfielder Giles Coke are also out, along with Adam Webster and midfielder Luke Hyam, who are both recovering from ankle problems.

There have been under 2.5 goals scored in 8 of Burton's last 9 games (Championship).     Ipswich have failed to win 9 of their last 10 matches (Championship).

Mr Oliver Langford will be the man in charge tomorrow night. The West Midlands-based referee has officiated 40 games in all competitions this season, handing out 123 yellow cards and five reds during that time. Langford has only failed to brandish a yellow card in two of his matches this season. Mr Langford was actually in charge of the reverse fixture between Burton Albion and Ipswich.

Nigel Clough said: “They are always a tough team to face, they went on a run of nine draws out of ten matches which shows how hard teams have found it to break them down. They broke the mould in a good 3-0 win at home against Wigan.”

Tickets are still available for Albion fans. The easiest way to purchase tickets is online by clicking here. Alternatively you can call 01283565938 or visit the club shop in person.
