LUCAS AKINS WINS PFA COMMUNITY CHAMPION OF THE YEAR

25 April 2017

BURTON Albion star Lucas Akins today visited Eton Park Primary School as part of today’s celebration for the EFL Community Day Of Action.

Whilst out in the community Lucas was presented with his PFA Community Champion trophy.

All 72 EFL clubs today came together for the EFL’s Community Day of Action to highlight and showcase the impact of the work that community trust’s and foundations do in towns and cities nationwide.

EFL Clubs use the power of football to have a positive effect on thousands of people’s lives in the UK every day, helping participants to improve their lives with programmes focused on health and wellbeing, education, community outreach and much more. First team players from all clubs have participated in the day, using the power of social media to showcase their work.

Akins, was chosen as Burton Albion Community Trust’s ambassador, due to his hard work and commitment in the local community since he joined the club in 2014. During his time at Eton Park School, Lucas joined in with a lunch club ran by ex-Brewers player Aaron Webster which was followed by a question and answers session as part of our Move and Learn project.

Following his visit, Akins said: “I’m really pleased to have won the PFA award and it’s amazing to see how well Burton continue to progress as a community club. Just seeing the likes of Aaron Webster here today delivering a session, is great and it just shows what a fantastic club we represent. I love coming out to all the different kind of projects and hope to do many more in the future.”
