SKIPPER SAYS BREWERS WILL RELISH NEWCASTLE CHALLENGE

3 April 2017

JOHN Mousinho says the Brewers will relish playing at St James’ Park on Wednesday night.

Albion follow up the 1-0 win at Huddersfied with another testing away trip at Newcastle United but the team have nothing to fear says the skipper.

He said: “These challenges are brilliant for everyone and last season we worked so hard to get promoted and that was the reason we came into pre-season this year and worked our socks off to get fit. It’s a long gruelling season but these are the games we embrace and the lads will really enjoy going to Newcastle and testing themselves against a massive club.

“We are playing some fantastic players and everyone in our dressing room will relish it."

Mousinho says spirits are high after the win at third placed Huddersfield.

He said: “The staff really did their homework and came up with a game plan and it has worked.

"One of the differences in the last eight games – apart from Brentford which was an anomaly – was how we have worked to keep the ball out of the net.

"You saw at Huddersfield us putting bodies in front of the ball. You are always going to concede chances and half chances with the quality these teams have got – but the desire to keep the ball out of the net set up the opportunity to go and get that goal at the end.

"To put in an unbelievable 95-minute shift and to still be running the length of the pitch was brilliant.

"We need to keep that mentality going for the next seven games and we will be OK."
