SORDELL BELIEVES TEAM READY FOR NEWCASTLE CHALLENGE

5 April 2017

BREWERS striker Marvin Sordell is confident that his teammates won't get overawed tonight by playing against Championship leaders Newcastle United in front of over 50,000.

Sordell said ahead of the match: "Regardless of who we are playing it's important we get the right result, it is important we build on from Saturday's win against Huddersfield where not many people expected us to get anything from. It gives us a lot of confidence going into the game, everyone has played in big pressure games whether that's games vying for promotion or to stay up. Regardless of the stadium and the size of the crowd you play in front of, this game will be much easier in the sense that nobody expects us to win, the pressure is all on them really with them vying for the Championship. "

Sordell also spoke about how he now feels more settled playing back at Championship level and the confidence within the group: "I have taken a bit of time to find my feet and readapt at this level. Scoring goals obviously helps and I'd love to have a few more but I feel I am performing well which gives me confidence. The team is also playing well so we are all confident with the challenge ahead, we are fighting to stay in this league and have the belief to do so. When we win games we breed confidence, we shown the Brentford game was a blip in the Huddersfield game and the international break gave us time to recharge and reflect and to come back with a good result. We know we have seven more to finish the job in keeping the club in the league."
