VARNEY EXPECTING TOUGH GAME TOMORROW

13 April 2017

BREWERS forward Luke Varney expects a tough game when his old side Ipswich Town visit the Pirelli Stadium tomorrow evening.

Varney said: “They are a well organised team, Mick McCarthy is a manager who will make sure everyone who plays knows their specific roles. You can see with the amount of draws they’ve got they are hard to beat. I’ve spoke to a few of their lads recently and they’ve all said they hope to finish their season strongly.”

Varney also spoke about the good mood in the camp of late heading into the final five games: “The results of late have been great as a whole of late minus the Newcastle defeat where on another day we could have possibly got something from the game. We are in good form and as a group we are looking forward to playing football matches which in the battle we are in is a big positive. We all know how important the games are that upcoming.”

“We go into most of the games as underdogs and that’s the way we like it, the gaffer doesn’t put much pressure on us but as a group we put the pressure on ourselves to succeed and we are all confident we have enough to stay up. We feel like we go to anywhere or play anyone at home and get a result. The results of late have been great, we are side that are hard for sides to beat.”
