BREWERS summer signing Matty Lund is excited by the prospect of making his Championship debut as the Brewers take on Cardiff City at the Pirell Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

The Northern Ireland international, signed from Rochdale this summe, said: “I can’t wait, it’s something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time.

"It’s a big honour for me to play in this league. It’ll be a big day for myself, friends and family. It will definitely be up there for me in my career, it’s a big achievement and I’ve got to prove I can play at this level."

Lund feels for his international colleague Liam Boyce who was also hoping to make his Championship debut tomorrow but instead is facing a long lay off after an ACL injury at Shrewsbury.

Lund says: "It's hard to see Boycey come back with that news. He will be a big miss. We really feel for him. We as a team have now got to show that it's not just one person who can score the goals but that they are shared throughout the team."
