BURTON Albion’s appeal against Hope Akpan’s red card which was picked up against Middlesbrough has been dismissed.
The Brewers midfielder was shown a straight red in the 78th minute, after coming on as a second half substitute.
At a meeting of a Regulatory Commission held today, the members considered Burton Albion’s claim of wrongful dismissal in relation to Akpan.
From the evidence adduced, the members ruled that it was not a case of wrongful dismissal. Therefore, Burton Albion’s claim has been unsuccessful.
Akpan will now begin a three-match suspension, starting with Birmingham City at the Pirelli Stadium tomorrow evening.
