CARDIFF CITY MATCH PREVIEW

22 August 2017

BURTON Albion are back on the road this evening as they head to the Cardiff City Stadium to take on Neil Warnock’s Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup (7.45PM).

The two sides have already met this season, on the opening day at the Pirelli Stadium where the Brewers were beaten by a late Kenneth Zohore strike which beat Stephen Bywater at the far post.

Last time Burton Albion travelled to the Cardiff City Stadium it was another late goal that cost the Brewers a point. In a contest of few chances, Neil Warnock's side left it late before former Newport loanee Healey scored his first Championship goal. Nigel Clough's men dropped into the Championship bottom three that week.

Nigel Clough confirmed Ben Turner would start in tonight's match, as well as Joe Sbarra, Luke Varney, Connor Ripley, Sean Scannell and Tom Flanagan.

Midfielder Matty Lund will miss the game through injury, as well as left back Stephen Warnock. John Mousinho looks like he will have to wait until after the international break to make his return.

"Sean Scannell will start in the view to giving him 45-60 minutes - whatever he needs to be ready for Saturday if selected.

"Joe Sbarra, Connor Ripley, Luke Varney and Tom Flanagan will probably start and we wil work it frm there. Harry Campbell will be on the bench." said Clough.

John Busby will be the man with the whistle tonight as he takes charge of this third cup match this season. He's already officiated an EFL cup tie between Nottingham Forest and Shrewsbury Town, as well as a Football League Trophy tie between Swindon and West Ham u21s. Aside from cup matches Mr Busby officiates between League One and League Two.
