CLOUGH SAYS CHANGES WILL BE MADE FOR OLDHAM TRIP

8 August 2017

NIGEL Clough has said changes will be made ahead of tomorrow’s Carabao Cup game against Oldham Athletic.

Clough said: “Connor Ripley will go straight into the side tomorrow, he has had a great experience in League One with Oldham and in the SPL with Motherwell so I am sure he will be ready to go.

“We’ve got a few lads who need a game, most of the lads who were on the bench Saturday will start. The likes of Hope Akpan will start, Hope has come on well in the first two weeks he’s been with us, he’s much closer to full fitness than we thought he would be at. He’s worked very hard and are sure he will be up-to speed in the next few weeks.

"The likes of Matty Palmer and Tom Naylor will be involved who are first-team players and it is a great opportunity for them to stake a claim.”

The only one unlikely to feature is winger Lloyd Dyer who has been struggling with a thigh injury: “Lloyd has struggled with a thigh injury the last week or two and that’s why he came off on Saturday against Cardiff, he’s likely to be the only one missing, everyone else will be in the 18."
