NIGEL Clough has praised young talents Joe Sbarra and Ben Fox for their performances at Oldham in the Carabao Cup tie.
The two Academy graduates both made their first competitive starts for the Brewers and both played for the full 90 minutes.
Clough said: “I was very pleased with them and neither of them looked out of place. Joe’s been on the fringes and coming on for the first team in a couple of games, Ben’s got his first real start and they both worked their socks off the whole game - Ben made a great challenge on the halfway line in added time.
“Ben will probably go out on loan somewhere and hopefully if people were watching it will be at a decent standard because he’s played against a good League One side and more than held his own.”
Clough now turns his thoughts from the Carabao Cup back to the Championship starting with the trip to Hull tomorrow.
He said: “Without a doubt the three league games coming up in a week are very important.”
