YOUNG Brewers midfielder Ben Fox was delighted to score his first goal for the club in last night’s 2-1 victory against Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup.
Academy product Fox said after the match: “It's fantastic to score my first goal, it’s a bit of relief, excitement, it’s everything, I certainly won’t forget tonight.
"I had some eye contact with Joe Sbarra before he crossed and to be fair credit to him because he’s put in a brilliant ball and I am just glad it went in. Me and him have played together for a while now in the academy, he’s the first one I went to celebrate with having set me up.”
It was a special moment Fox won’t forget in a hurry with his family watching too: “It was great to score in front of my family and girlfriend who are all in the crowd watching too and I could spot them in the crowd when I was very much celebrating.”
Fox is now hoping more opportunities arise following two good performances against Oldham Athletic and Cardiff from the start: “Every opportunity I get is a chance to impress the manager, I am grateful to have this opportunity and I will continue to take my development day by day, week by week seeing what opportunity arises my way. All the midfielders I play alongside are brilliant and have good qualities, when I train/play alongside them I try to pick up bits from their games and add it to mine.”
