BOYCE ON THE ROAD TO RECOVERY

14 December 2017

STRIKER Liam Boyce’s recovery from an ACL injury picked up in pre-season is going as well as possible says Nigel Clough.

The Brewers record signing has been unavailable all season after picking up the injury in a pre-season friendly at Shrewsbury which has been a big frustration for the player and his manager.

Clough says: “Liam is coming on as well as expected. He is running and is outside on the training pitch which is good to see. That’s a big step forward when you are injured to get back outside and on the training pitch and at least you are alongside the other lads.”

Boyce is still limited as to what he can do at present.

Clough said: “There is a six-month rule the surgeons put in place which means you can’t do anything contact wise. He’s working unbelievably hard on his rehab and that’s all he can do. The harder he works the less time it will take to get him back up to speed. He will be in the best possible shape for when he gets the OK from the surgeons to start joining in and doing some physical work.”
