TOM Naylor chalked up his 100th appearance for the Brewers against Preston on Saturday and is delighted to have reached that milestone.
He said: “It has been an unbelievable journey since I signed in League 2 initially on loan. The 100 mark in terms of appearances for Burton is massive for me. I have just wanted to do what I can for the club and work hard as even if the results aren’t going your way you still have to put the effort in.
“I feel like since I have been in the team starting at Brentford I have done well and not done much wrong. It’s just getting the results for the team and that’s not coming, which is frustrating. I’m happy with my performances and hopefully I can stay in the side and help the team to start winning.”
Tom was asked to move up from defence to a midfield role alongside Luke Murphy as Nigel Clough opted for a 4-2-3-1 system against Preston and thrived in the role.
He said: “I enjoyed it. I haven’t played there for a while but as soon as the gaffer said I was playing there I was looking forward to it. I enjoy playing with Murph as he can sit in and I can bomb on a bit like I was doing last season. I haven’t scored in the league this season but if I am playing in midfield I want to try and get in the box and get a goal.
“The gaffer sees me as the right man for the job at the minute and if I’m there on Saturday I’ll be happy but wherever I play on the pitch I’m not bothered, I’m happy to play anywhere.”
