READING'S STYLE OF PLAY MIGHT SUIT BREWERS SAYS MURPHY

22 December 2017

LUKE Murphy believes that Reading’s possession game could well suit the Brewers.

Albion travel to Reading tomorrow (kick off 3pm) and the  midfielder expects the home side to have a lot of the ball.

He said: “It might suit us. We went to Brentford away and they are similar to Reading. We were very well organised, they couldn’t break us down and they got frustrated. We go a draw there and might have easily won it even though the possession stats don’t tend to suggest it.”

The Brewers then face Murphy’s parent club Leeds on Boxing Day, meaning he has to sit the game out due to the terms of his loan.

“I’m missing Boxing Day so I’m disappointed about that but as a team it’s the perfect time for us going into Christmas on the back of a win. If we can get a couple more, put some points on the board, we will give ourselves a great chance to pull out of the bottom three and crack on from there.

“Consistency is the key for us. When I came last year, it was a little bit similar, but we would always throw a win in there which would help, especially at home. Our home form really needs to pick up. We have it right away from home.

"We need to make the Pirelli Stadium a horrible place to come, a fortress. As it was last year.

“It’s  a small stadium, big clubs don’t like coming here and we need to get back to that.”
