CLOUGH BELIEVES AWAY WINS WILL BE A BOOST FOR BOXING DAY CLASH

24 December 2017

NIGEL Clough says victories at Bolton and Reading will put his team in good spirits for the Boxing Day clash with Leeds United at the Pirelli Stadium (kick off 3pm).

The Brewers manager said: “It’s a huge boost going into the Leeds game on Boxing Day. We have talked about trying to get some momentum and confidence and back-to-back away wins with our home record as it is of late puts us in good heart.

“We will get a good crowd on Boxing Day and they can help. The 300-odd that came to Reading were brilliant. You know it’s a good sign when you can hear your supporters over thousands of their supporters. And we know we are doing our job when we keep the home crowd quiet.

“The fans are always very important and for them and us you don’t get a better Christmas present than three points at Reading. It was a long trip down for them just before Christmas so I’m sure they enjoyed that.

“We have had so many things go against us in the first half of the season so now being out of the relegation zone at Christmas is a turning point.

“What we need to do now is back these results up not only in the next three but the next 23.”
