AKINS: ‘WE HAVE GOT TO TRY AND DUST OURSELVES DOWN’

27 December 2017

LUCAS Akins admits that Burton Albion were ‘bitterly disappointed’ to suffer a defeat in their Boxing Day clash with Leeds United, but he says that the Brewers must now look ahead to Saturday’s game against Norwich City.

The Brewers took a first-half lead through Tom Naylor’s second goal in as many games before two goals in a matter for second-half minutes compounded Burton to their eighth-straight home defeat.

Akins believes that Burton had good chances to win the game and says that the team must try to get back on track against Norwich.

He said: “Given the last two results, we know that confidence isn’t an issue at all. Even when we went behind, we know that setbacks happen in games, but you saw at Reading that when they equalised we were able to go and get a winner after.

“We have still created chances at 2-1 down where you think ‘maybe on another day they might have gone in’ when the ball has dropped.

“It is very disappointing but we just have to dust ourselves down now. The games are coming thick and fast, which is only a good thing. We will recover well and hopefully, end the year at home on a high.

“Norwich got a good result (on Boxing Day) so they will be coming here with a lot of confidence, but we will fight for every point that we can get and we would definitely like to end the year with a win.”
