CLOUGH SAYS 50 POINTS MIGHT NOT BE ENOUGH

9 February 2017

NIGEL Clough believes the Brewers may need more than 50 points to stay in the Championship.

He said: “You always aim roughly for the 50 point mark – it has been less than that in recent seasons but the way it’s so bunched up in the league at the moment it might be one of those funny seasons where it might be more than 50 that you need.

“We just need to try and get as many points as we can. I think if you had said that after 30 games we would have had 31 points we would have taken that at the start of the season as that gives us a fighting chance. A lot of people assumed we would be adrift and good as down by now.

“It’s good to be in there fighting at this stage.”

Albion face a tricky trip to promotion-chasing Brighton on Saturday but Clough still hopes to return with a positive result.

He said: “We have to get points wherever we can. We are going to Brighton and will look to get a point or three if we can. Our results are so unpredictable I don’t think we can target specific games.”
