MCFADZEAN AND BARKER VISIT OUTWOODS PRIMARY AS PART OF MOVE AND LEARN PROJECT

13 February 2017

BURTON Albion first team stars Kyle McFadzean and Shaun Barker were in attendance this week at Outwoods Primary School, taking part in BACT’s Move and Learn Project.

The Move and Learn Project is a national programme which allows Burton Albion Community Trust to use the brand of the football club to improve children’s understanding around the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. This is rolled out to all of BACT's partner schools that have year 5 pupils. The programme is 6 weeks long and consists of 45-minute classroom based activity and 45 minutes physical activity.

The players took their time after training to firstly answer questions in a classroom environment, on both their careers and about living a healthy and fit lifestyle. Following the Q&A, the players then took part in a handball session, run by BACT coaches. The players got involved with the participants, offering advice on the movement and teamwork aspects of the game.

Staff from BACT conduct the project in each of our partner schools in East Staffordshire, delivering the programme to year five pupils, with around 1800 participants taking part over the course of a school year.
