NIGEL CLOUGH'S NORWICH VERDICT

18 February 2017

NIGEL Clough praised the work rate and commitment of his players after the 2-1 victory over Norwich.

The Albion boss said: "It was an outstanding victory and I couldn't ask any more of the players - the work rate was exceptional and that has got us the three points.

"We scored two great goals and the second was an amazing finish but the work rate of every player on the pitch and the desire to stop Norwich playing won us the game. The attitude and application and throwing ourselves in front crosses was the difference today.

"We also had to deal with their equaliser, which was freakish to say the least, and we were very unhappy that a free kick wasn't awarded to Ben Turner leading up to that. Then to concede in freakish circumstances you feel the worst and expect Norwich to come on. But a great ball from Cauley Woodrow and then a wonderful finish from Michael Kightly got us the three points. His first touch was great but then to have that awareness to chip the goalkeeper, who isn't small, it was a great goal.

"Shaun Barker wasn't originally in the 18 but after Lucas Akins pulled up before the game he came in and then got on for an important seven or eight minutes at the end which sees us threw."
