STIFF PHYSICAL AND MENTAL TEST AWAITS BREWERS

16 February 2017

NIGEL Clough says three games inside a week will be a stiff physical and mental test for his players.

The Brewers face Norwich at the Pirelli on Saturday, travel to Derby on Tuesday and then are back at home on Friday night when Blackburn are the visitors.

Clough said: “It’s a physical battle for the players and also tough mentally at this time of year when the games come thick and fast.

“Norwich have scored seven in the last two games and you look at some of their forward players and the options they have got and it’s quite scary but we will have a go at them on Saturday and we do fancy anyone here at the Pirelli at home. It will be a different experience for them to 25,000 at Carrow Road.

“Blackburn is the most important game on the Friday night considering the league positions but we can’t pick and choose as we have to try and get something from every game but when you have Norwich at home and Derby away, Blackburn, with them being just below us, is the most important.

“They are all winnable in the Championship because of the nature of the league and you can cause upsets at any time but going to Pride Park will be incredibly difficult with the differences between the two clubs.

“You will get that David and Goliath feeling next Tuesday – but we get that anyway whenever we play. We just enjoy competing against these clubs.”
